I chose a close-by county campground-and-boat-launch marina for my first outdoor adventure. No more than 5 miles from home, because I already live in a gorgeous part of Oregon.
And a quick and easy retreat in case things went south.
I found a site with a good overall location. Close to bathrooms and showers and easy access to the Marina and walking trails.
